Let the Media Circus begin

Well they say even bad publicity is good publicity. As Carol Clark was interviewing me yesterday I was in too much shock that I was still considered a public figure and was tonguetied about what to say. However everything in the article is true and accurate. So to be honest I don't know if it's bad press because it hopefully sends a message to people that everyone must be held accountable for their actions. Also I want to remind the "Court of Public Opinion" That they do not know the facts of the case and frankly they don't need to. Our Justice system states that a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.. So let the Justice system do it's job and we can all wait for the outcome. As for me I will continue to regain control of my personal life which has been through the wringer this past year. I've gone through a lot and am working to get back to myself and a point where I can move forward and start advocating for people again. I still believe in all of you and ask that you do your best to continue believing in me.

Bypass Road Petition ROUGH DRAFT

Below is a draft of the petition I will be submitting to coucil. If you would like to sign it please contact me via email at manny@bacaforla.com

We the following citizens of the Incorporated County of Los Alamos file the following petition with the Los Alamos County Council.

We request that the West Jemez Bypass Road project be removed from the CIP (Capital Improvement Project) list and tabled. We are aware of the fact that this road was originally approved with Ordinance 529 which was to give the authority to council to enter into agreements to redevelop the Trinity Site as well as to construct the bypass road. However we feel that the Bypass road is un-necessary as there is adequate access to the Jemez and Valles Caldera as well as the Ski Hill via State Road 4 through Bandelier National Monument, West Road and the current East Jemez road checkpoints, and the cost of 15.4 million dollars is much too expensive of a project to move forward with.

We further feel that there may be agreements with LANL and the LACDC that weren’t fully disclosed to the public that may force the building of this road and would like full disclosure of all information prior to the process to approve the design of the road proceeds.

Finally and most importantly it was stated by NNSA representatives that in the event of a security closure of the Lab Checkpoints the Bypass road would also be closed. Therefore the main purpose of this road would be defeated if the security gates were closed due to a Lab Security Situation.

Thank You

I just want to thank the 3,000+ people who felt I had something to offer Los Alamos. Unfortunately we didn't have enough or didn't say the right words. But we gave it our best effort and to me that's more important than anything else. I fought hard to keep the Skate park in front of the Library and that's where it is and when I stood there in front of all of those kids and their parents came to me and thanked me for my efforts and fighting for their kids I was proud to say "You're Welcome". I said a lot of things to people that they didn't like to hear. I threw things back in their faces and let them know that those kids are just as deserving as the privileged and the rich and the elite students and jocks in this town. I pissed off a few people and maybe those ones launched a campaign to defeat me I don't know. I may not have won this election but I'm definitely not a loser by any means. I stood up for the kids that very few leaders in this community would stand up for and to see those happy kids means more to me than winning any election.
So once again
Thank you all for your support.

Sticking to my guns

There are some people in this town who have compared me to Ed Grothus and to be honest I am honored. Though I'm sure your intent was to say that I'm a nut job.

One thing about Ed is that he has stuck to his guns through all the things he's been through and he has been true to himself and never produced a false front as far as I know. That is a quality you rarely find in people these days and I admire it. I admire people who march to the beat of their own drum and are independent thinkers who are not being herded around like sheep or cows following along with the status quo because if not they'll get kicked, prodded or taken to slaughter. Though in the long run most sheep and cattle do end up that way.

The Point I'm really trying to make is I am me with my own opinions about everything that I encounter. Whether they are agreeable with the status quo or not is of no real importance to me. I am not going to change who I am and what I believe to fit in or to get elected. I have seen too many people pander and fall in line in order to get elected and then when they get into office they become someone other that who they presented themselves to be during the election. So love me or hate me what you see is what you will get on your County Council.

As for my stance on Youth I need people to understand that unlike previous people in this town I am not using the youth for my own personal gain nor am I using them to make me look good. In fact what I am trying to do is get the youth to use me and by youth I don't just mean children I mean young adults and young families or families with children. I have worked with youth as a church youth leader and butted heads with many pastors because they thought they knew what was best for the youth without taking the opinions of feelings of the youth into consideration. I see that happen here quite a bit. I on the other hand believe that a program for youth is doomed to failure if it does not have direction from the youth and strong input from the youth. The same thing is to be said for programs for families and for community and economic development. There are those in this community who live by what would be called the old school rules. "We know what's best for you and you'll take your medicine and like it" Those days are long gone and if we want to keep living that way we can just sit there and let them waste our tax dollars on various projects that truly will not benefit the community or us as individuals.

So I ask you to support yourselves in this and every election by speaking your voice at the polls and voting for the candidtate that you feel would best represent you. Whether that is me or someone else. I also ask you to use your voices and your pens if need be to create petitions to change things in order to better benefit your community and the way your tax dollars are spent.

Win or lose in this election I am going to continue to be an activist for the rights of the citizens of Los Alamos that have been pused out on the fringe because they don't make enough money or becuase they don't have the right credentials or enought letters after their last name.

Thank you US Senate from Doctors, Elderly and Disabled.. What no Reach Around??

I personally would like to thank Congress for not havintg the balls to stand up to corporate America and allow the amount of payments for medical services for our elderly and disabled to be cut by 10.6% effective July 1, 2008. Thanks to your foresight and strong fiscal responsibility many doctors in the US will choose not to take Medicare patients as the reimbursement is already too low and the decrease will make it extremely difficult for many to stay in practice if they have a large majority of patients on Medicare. So my friends if you think it's hard to find a Doctor now just wait to see what's on the horizon. If you'd like to blame anyone specific here are the names of the senators who chose to tell America's Seniors and Disabled as well as their doctors that they don't matter.Vote, state, Name, PartyNay AL Sessions, Jefferson [R] Nay AL Shelby, Richard [R Nay AZ Kyl, Jon [R] No Vote AZ McCain, John [R] (And this man wants to be your President!)Nay CO Allard, Wayne [R] Nay FL Martinez, Mel [R] Nay GA Chambliss, C.[R] Nay GA Isakson, John [R] Nay ID Craig, Larry [R] Nay ID Crapo, Michael [R] Nay IN Lugar, Richard [R] Nay IA Grassley, Charles [R] Nay KS Brownback, Samuel [R] Nay KY Bunning, Jim [R] Nay KY McConnell, Mitch [R] Nay LA Vitter, David [R] Nay MS Cochran, Thad [R] Nay MS Wicker, Roger [R] Nay MO Bond, Christopher [R] Nay NE Hagel, Charles [R] Nay NV Ensign, John [R] Nay NV Reid, Harry [D] Nay NH Gregg, Judd [R] Nay NH Sununu, John [R] Nay NM Domenici, Pete [R] Nay NC Burr, Richard [R] Nay OK Coburn, Thomas [R] Nay OK Inhofe, James [R] Nay PA Specter, Arlen [R] Nay SC DeMint, Jim [R] Nay SC Graham, Lindsey [R] Nay SD Thune, John [R] Nay TN Alexander, Lamar [R] Nay TN Corker, Bob [R] Nay TX Cornyn, John [R] Nay TX Hutchison, Kay [R] Nay UT Bennett, Robert [R] Nay UT Hatch, Orrin [R] Nay VA Warner, John [R] Nay WY Barrasso, John [R] Nay WY Enzi, Michael [R] This data came from the following site: http://www. govtrack. us/congress/vote. xpd?vote=s2008-160These people don't care about Medicare because they'll never have to use it. All they have to do is serve one term and they have health coverage for life. Our Servicemembers don't get as good of a health benefit as these losers do. Just remember that you too will someday need to use Medicare and there won't be any money left because all of it was cut off and the funds were diverted to the war so that Blackwater and Halliburton with their no-bid contracts can continue their outrageous profits from the war while our servicemen and women in the field do without. Yet people try to blame the Democrats for the lack of funding for the troops. Look at it again my friends. We've been swindled by the very people we elected to take care of our homeland and our citizens.

WHY? WHY? WHY!!!?????

Can someone anyone in this community tell me why are seniors on a limited income are paying between the equivalent of a mortgage on a three bedroom house for an efficiency apartment in an asssited living facility with no night nurse coverage and poor quality food?

CAN ANYONE ANSWER THIS????? I take back what I said about this community taking care of it's seniors.. This is deplorable who is in charge and why are they allowing this to happen? Is the mortgage on the property so high that they have to pass that on to the residents (If so who's the profit mongering property owner?). Is the management so bad that they cannot keep staff on board? Is the Board that oversees the management so bad that they can't keep good management??

Someone answer these questions please?

It's not right!! You know it and I know it now someone answer the questions and fix it!!!

This, That and the Other Thing

It's been a bit since I posted anything and so I thougt it was time. As we near the Primary next Tuesday I just wanted to tell people about myself a litte more than what they may already know or assume to know.

  • I'm a normal guy just like you. I have my butler put my pants on one leg at a time.
  • I have a twisted sense of humor in case you didn't notice.
  • I really honestly do care about people. All people it's something my mother instilled in me at a young age. I have learned to help others when I can and to share what I have with those who don't have for whatever reason. I've also learned to tell the difference.
  • I'm passionate about everything I do and sometimes that causes me to become angry if I feel that someone is getting screwed over for the benefit of someone else. I wouldn't like it to happen to me and I don't like it to happen to others.
  • I belive everyone needs to be treated with respect regardless of their socioeconomic status. Unless they are from a higher status and treat the people below them (I hate using that term) with disdain and disrespect as if they're not good enough to associate with them.
  • I believe that kids do learn by example and I also belive that their role models should be parents and family but whether we like it or not they pick up things from their environment and other people in thier lives. Some good and Some bad. So whether we like it they watch us and learn from us. We should do our best to not be a bad example.
  • I don't tolerate discrimination of any type. Specifically those based on race, gender or sexual orientation. But there are others, stereotypes if you will. Because a person dresses a certain way they are bad or if they talk with a souther accent they're stupid etc.. There is not place for that. Yes Comedians do it and for the most part they do it to point out how ridiculous it sounds.
  • I love animals of all types
  • I'm educated but not overly educated. Yes there is such a thing.
  • I try to keep my ego in check but when I slip I have family and friends to bring me back to earth.

Well that's just a bit about me hope that gives you some insight and if there's more you need to know just ask.
